Description
The Treated Seed Inspection Station helps seed analysts avoid neck and back pains and serious arm and wrist problems while protecting them from toxic fumes which may be encountered with the use of treated seed. This station enables analysts to work comfortably for hours, which can increase accuracy and productivity. The purity analysis of seeds that have been treated with poisonous fungicide compounds has been a controversial issue for years. It is the opinion of some individuals that there is a possibility that the more common mercuric treatments could be harmful when a person is subjected to prolonged breathing of dusts and vapors. Some analysists have complained of eye and nose irritation when examining treated seeds. The conventional hand method, using a hand lens and forceps, orients the analyst in close proximity to the treated seed, thus providing an excellent opportunity for breathing these dusts and vapors. The treated seed inspection station was designed to protect the user from harmful dusts and vapors given off by various seed treatments during purity analysis.
